Basketball(M)/TIGERS TO FACE #1 LEBO AT BALDWIN TONIGHT
The Tigers will take on WPIAL Quad A Champion Mt. Lebanon tonight at Baldwin High School in the second round of the PIAA tournament.  Tickets will be on sale at the Athletic Office through 3:00 pm on this afternoon.  Tickets are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for students.  The Athletic Department is asking that you purchase your tickets in advance if you are planning to attend the game!  Tickets at the door will be $6.00 for all.  Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Swimming and Diving/TIGERS GO FOR PIAA GOLD STARTING TODAY AT BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY
The WPIAL Champion Tiger teams will begin their quest for state gold this morning with girls' preliminary events scheduled to get under way at 8:00 am.  Boys' prelims are scheduled for 10:30 am with finals for both boys and girls set for this afternoon and this evening.  The boys are defending PIAA Champions.

Tennis(M)/TIGERS OPEN EXHIBITION SEASON WITH 4-1 WIN OVER SEWICKLEY ACADEMY
The Tigers began their 2010 exhibition season on the road by taking on the defending WPIAL AA Champions, Sewickley Academy, and crusing to a 4-1 victory.  The Tigers swept the singles matches with senior Andrew Marczak, sophomore Chirs Lippiello and junior Bennett Salvatora earning victories.  The Tigers conclude the exhibition season on Thursday as they travel sout to take on the Blue Devils of Mt. Lebanon with match time set for 3:30 pm.  (More)

Cheerleaders/TRYOUTS SET FOR 2010-11 SCHOOL YEAR
Cheerleading tryouts for the 2010-2011 school year for all levels will be during the week of May 17, 2010.  Middle schools will try out on Friday, May 21, and the Varsity/JV and Freshman tryouts will be on Saturday, May 22, 2010.  Practice and tryout schedules will be provided in a few weeks.  The Athletic Department will be having the annual Parents and Prospective Cheerleader orientation meeting for the high school and freshman teams on Monday, May 3, in the NA Senior High auditorium.  The orientation meeting for the high school and freshman teams will begin at 6:30 pm followed by the middle school cheer orientation meeting at 7:30 pm.

Swimming/SPRING COMMUNITY SWIM LESSONS SIGNUP SET FOR MONDAY, MARCH 22nd
The sign up for Spring Community Swim Lessons is Monday, March 22nd at 6:00 pm in the Senior High School cafeteria.  Lessons will be offered on the following dates and times:
     - April 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th
     - April 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th
     - There will be three sessions offered for Tiny Tigers,      Beginners and Intermediate
         - 1st session - 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm
         - 2nd session - 5:40 pm to 6:10 pm
         - 3rd session - 6:20 pm - 6:50 pm
     - Each level (Tiny Tigers, Beginners, Intermediate) will be offered at each of the three sessions
     - Cost of the lessons is $70 per child.  With a pool membership ($100), the cost is $35 per child

Athletic Office/FIRST COMMONWEALTH TO FUND TEN SCHOLARHIPS
First Commonwealth is pleased to announce the launch of its second annual scholarship program fro western and central Pennsylvania high school seniors scheduled to graduate in 2010.  The First Commonwealth "Time to be First" Athletic Scholarship has been established in conjunction with the WPIAL as a means of recognizing and rewarding the good work of those well-rounded students.  The scholarship program, co-sponsored by Trib Total Media, recognizes student-athletes demonstrating success in the classroom, the community and in their athletic endeavors.  The deadline for entries is April 2, 2010.

MRSA Infections/DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has released information on how to deal with MRSA infections.  General recommendations and other information on MRSA  including spread, treatment, and prevention and control are available on the PADOH fact sheet.  The Allegheny County Health Department has also issued guidelines for the treatment of MRSA.  Click on the following link for more information:   (http://www.achd.net/mrsa/MRSAMain.html)

Athletic Director/INFECTIOUS DISEASE PREVENTION GUIDELINES
The National Athletic Trainers' Association has released a set of guidelines of precautions for the prevention of the spread of communicable and infectious diseases.  Due to the nature of competitive sports at the high school level, there is an elevated risk of infectious diseases being spread by skin-to-skin contact.

Hall of Fame/NA HALL OF FAME CONTINUES MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The North Allegheny Athletic Hall of Fame is currently conducting its annual membership drive.  All athletes who graduated in, or before, 2004 are eligible for consideration.  To nominate an athlete, you must be a member of the Hall of Fame Association.  (More)

Basketball(M)/TIGERS ROLL OVER ERIE STRONG VINCENT, 74-59, IN FIRST ROUND OF PIAA TOURNAMENT
The Tigers jumped off to a 23-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back on their way to a 74-59 victory over Erie Strong Vincent in the PIAA Quad A First Round at Edinboro on Saturday night.  Sophomore guard Anthony Dallier tallied 26 to pace NA with senior forward Ryan Besonson adding 15 for the winning Tigers.  With the win, NA advances to the second round against WPIAL Champion Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday at Baldwin High School.  (More)

Wrestling/CANDIELLO CAPTURES FIFTH PLACE IN PIAA TOURNAMENT
Senior Andy Candiello closed out his career at NA with a pin of Billy Randt of West York in the consolation finals of the 145 pound weight class.  The victory was in the fifth place consolation match at the Giant Center at Hershey.  Candiello finished with a final record of 37-9 this season and a career mark of 127-28 at NA.  (More)

Bowling(M)/KOLECK ADVANCES TO STATE FINAL
Both the Tigers' boys and girls were well represented at the WPIBL Individual Championships at the North Versailles Lanes on Friday.  Senior Kevin Koleck finished 10th to advance to the Regionals where he was eliminated after one game.  Koleck did qualify for the State Tournament next Friday.  (More)

Ice Hockey/CANON-MAC EDGES TIGERS, 3-1, TO END NA SEASON
The Tigers gave a great effort against a tough Canon-MacMillan team in the first round of the PIHL playoffs at the Ice-O-Plex at Southpointe, but the Big Macs were able to hold on for a 3-1 victory.  Canon-Mac broke a scoreless tie with a goal early in the second period.  After the Big Macs scored again early in the third, junior defenseman Eric Barger cut the lead to one on assists from senior forward Kevin Kelly and junior forward Ryan Worsena with 2:15 still left.  An empty net goal sealed the win and eliminated NA from the playoffs.  Senior goalie Lindsay Holdcroft made several key saves to keep the Tigers in the game.  The loss ended the NA season as they finished with a final record of 10-10-3.  (More)

Rowing(M/F)/TIGERS WIN 2010 INDOOR ERG RACE
The North Allegheny Indoor Rowing Championships were held for the 11th time at Marshall Middle School on Saturday.  The 2010 race featured over 300 rowers from local high schools. Rowers complete in 18 different events, followed by three relay races. Points are awarded for finishing in the top 6. This year, North Allegheny won the Girls Combined events, while Central Catholic finished first in the Boys Category. In combined points, North Allegheny took first, with Central Catholic taking second and Three Rivers finishing third.  (More)

Swimming(M/F)/TIGER TEAMS TAKE TITLES FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Both Tiger teams were victorious at the WPIAL Class AAA Swimming Championships on Friday at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.  The girls scored 440 points to second place Latrobe's 226.  Winning gold were senior Kylie Grady in the 100 breaststroke along with the 400 free relay team.  The boys also dominated with 400 total points to 230.5 for runnerup Upper St. Clair.  Taking first place medals were senior Jon Buerger in the 500 free along with the 400 free relay team.  It was the second consecutive year that NA won both titles with the boys winning their fifth consecutive team title.
